A purchase unlocks one Mac, so it starts from inside the app on that Mac:

  1. Install Keep Mac Awake from keepmacawake.com. It is free for 3 days, with sessions up to 8 hours and no card.
  2. Choose Buy in the menu bar panel, or run keepmacawake buy in Terminal. The Buy page opens in your browser.
  3. Enter BF50 in the Have a promotion code? field and choose Apply. The price changes to $4.50.
  4. Choose Buy for $4.50. Stripe handles the payment and tax, then the page unlocks the app on that Mac. There is no key to type.

Why use Keep Mac Awake?

Closing a MacBook's lid normally puts it to sleep, and whatever runs on it stops: an agent's task, a build, a download. During a Keep Mac Awake session the Mac keeps working with the lid closed and the display dark. Sessions run on AC power by default; battery use is optional, down to a floor you pick, and a battery session also ends at a serious thermal state. A separate watchdog restores the normal sleep setting if the app's background service stops or hangs.
