Effective October 21, 2026. This privacy policy describes how E-media Bartłomiej Dudzic, the business of Bart Dudzic, who makes Keep Mac Awake ("we", "us", "our"), processes the personal data of people who visit the website https://keepmacawake.com, including its blog, the purchase page and the download link (the "Website"). We comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the applicable national data protection laws. What the Keep Mac Awake app on your Mac reads and sends is described separately in the app privacy description.

1. Data controller

The controller of your personal data is:

2. Categories of personal data and purposes of processing

Technical data

  • Data: IP address, browser and device type, the address of the requested page, the time of the request.
  • Purpose: delivering the Website and protecting it from attacks and abuse.
  • Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a secure website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).

Analytics data

  • Data: pages visited, the referring page, browser, device and screen, approximate location (country and city, derived from the IP address, which Google does not store), and how you use the Website, such as clicks on download links.
  • Purpose: understanding which pages and guides are useful, and improving the Website.
  • Legal basis: in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil, Canada, China and South Korea, your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR), asked for in the cookie banner and withdrawable at any time. Elsewhere, where the law allows analytics with notice and a way to opt out, our legitimate interest in understanding how the Website is used (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR): analytics starts when you open the Website, and you can turn it off at any time with Cookie settings. If your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, analytics stays off.
  • Your region: when you arrive, the Website reads your country as Cloudflare reports it, to decide whether the cookie banner is needed. If the country cannot be determined, the banner is shown.

Purchase data

  • Data: an identifier of your Mac, passed from the app to the purchase page and on to the payment provider; your e-mail address, billing details and payment data, which you enter directly with the payment provider and which we do not receive.
  • Purpose: completing your purchase and issuing the license for your Mac.
  • Legal basis: the performance of the contract you ask for (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR).

Communication data

  • Data: your e-mail address and the content of your messages.
  • Purpose: answering your questions and providing support, including before and after a purchase.
  • Legal basis: the performance of a contract or steps taken at your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and our legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • Data: your choice in the cookie banner and the time you made it.
  • Purpose: respecting your choice and being able to show that consent was given.
  • Legal basis: our legal obligation to demonstrate consent (Article 6(1)(c) and Article 7(1) GDPR).

3. Data retention

  • Technical data: we keep no logs of visits; the hosting provider keeps request data only for as long as its security and operation require.
  • Analytics data: up to 14 months, after which data about single visits is deleted; only aggregated reports may be kept longer.
  • Consent record: 12 months, after which the Website asks again.
  • Purchase data: our server stores none. The payment provider keeps it under its own policy and the retention periods required by tax law.
  • Communication data: for as long as needed to handle your request and any claims related to it, then deleted.

4. Data sharing

We share personal data only with:

  • Cloudflare, Inc., which hosts the Website and forwards e-mail sent to our address, under a data processing agreement.
  • Google Ireland Limited, which provides Google Analytics (only with your consent) and our e-mail mailbox, under a data processing agreement.
  • Stripe, which sells Keep Mac Awake as the reseller (merchant of record) and processes payments as an independent controller under the Stripe privacy policy.
  • GitHub, Inc., which serves the app download as an independent controller under the GitHub privacy statement.
  • Public authorities, where the law requires it.

We do not sell your personal data and do not use it for advertising.

5. International transfers of data

Google and Cloudflare may process data in the United States. Such transfers rely on the European Commission's adequacy decision for the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, under which Google LLC and Cloudflare, Inc. are certified, and on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

6. Your rights

Under Articles 15 to 22 GDPR you have the right to:

  • access your data and obtain a copy of it;
  • have incorrect data rectified;
  • have your data erased;
  • restrict the processing of your data;
  • receive your data in a portable format;
  • object to processing based on our legitimate interest, including analytics outside the regions that require consent, which you can turn off with Cookie settings;
  • withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal; for analytics, use Cookie settings at the bottom of every page;
  • lodge a complaint with a data protection authority, in particular the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO) in Poland, or the authority of the EU country where you live or work.

Write to hi@keepmacawake.com to use your rights. We answer within one month.

Providing personal data is voluntary; without the purchase data you cannot buy the app. We do not make automated decisions, including profiling, that produce legal or similarly significant effects for you.

7. Technical measures ensuring data security

  • HTTPS with TLS encryption for every page.
  • A strict Content Security Policy: the Website loads no scripts, fonts or images from other companies, except Google Analytics as described in section 2.
  • No user accounts or passwords, and no database of visitors or buyers.
  • Licenses signed by our server and checked offline by the app.

8. Cookies

  • kma_consent_v1: stores your cookie choice for 12 months. It is necessary and is set without consent.
  • _ga and _ga_<ID>: Google Analytics cookies that tell visits apart and keep the state of a visit, for up to 13 months. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Brazil, Canada, China and South Korea they are set only after your consent; elsewhere, when analytics starts, unless you turned it off or your browser sends Global Privacy Control.
  • kma_country (session storage, not a cookie): your country outside the regions that require consent, kept until you close the tab so the Website does not ask Cloudflare again on every page.

Where consent is required, no analytics cookie is set and Google Analytics is not loaded until you give it. Turning analytics off in Cookie settings deletes the analytics cookies.

9. Children's privacy

The Website is not intended for people under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

10. Policy updates

Changes to this policy are published on this page with a new effective date. If we add a new kind of cookie or a new analytics provider, the cookie banner asks for your consent again.
