> **Short answer:** Keep Mac Awake is 50% off for Black Friday 2026 with the promotion code **BF50**: $4.50 instead of $9 per Mac, tax included. The code works from November 24, 2026 at 00:00 to December 1, 2026 at 23:59, Central European Time. Install the app, choose Buy in its panel (or run `keepmacawake buy`), and enter BF50 on the Buy page that opens.

## What is the Black Friday deal?

One promotion code, **BF50**, takes 50% off the one-time price of Keep Mac Awake. The regular price is $9 once per Mac, tax included; with the code it is $4.50. It is the same code for everyone, with no sign-up and no newsletter.

Keep Mac Awake is a Mac menu bar app with a command, `keepmacawake`, that keeps a MacBook awake with the lid closed, with no external display, keyboard or mouse, for a session you start: no limit, 1 hour, 8 hours or a custom number of hours up to 168. A timed session ends on time and normal sleep returns. It is made for long jobs, downloads and AI coding agents such as Claude Code and Codex that should keep working while the lid is closed; the [homepage](/) shows how it works.

## When does it start and end?

The code works from **November 24, 2026 at 00:00** to **December 1, 2026 at 23:59**, Central European Time (UTC+1). In other time zones:

| Time zone | Starts | Ends |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Central European Time (UTC+1) | November 24, 00:00 | December 1, 23:59 |
| UTC | November 23, 23:00 | December 1, 22:59 |
| US Eastern (UTC-5) | November 23, 18:00 | December 1, 17:59 |
| US Pacific (UTC-8) | November 23, 15:00 | December 1, 14:59 |

Before November 24 the Buy page does not accept the code yet. After December 1 the price is $9 again.

## How do I use the code?

A purchase unlocks one Mac, so it starts from inside the app on that Mac:

1. Install Keep Mac Awake from [keepmacawake.com](/). It is free for 3 days, with sessions up to 8 hours and no card.
2. Choose **Buy** in the menu bar panel, or run `keepmacawake buy` in Terminal. The Buy page opens in your browser.
3. Enter **BF50** in the **Have a promotion code?** field and choose **Apply**. The price changes to $4.50.
4. Choose **Buy for $4.50**. Stripe handles the payment and tax, then the page unlocks the app on that Mac. There is no key to type.

You can buy during the free trial or after it. The trial does not have to end first.

## Why use Keep Mac Awake?

Closing a MacBook's lid normally puts it to sleep, and whatever runs on it stops: an agent's task, a build, a download. During a Keep Mac Awake session the Mac keeps working with the lid closed and the display dark. Sessions run on AC power by default; battery use is optional, down to a floor you pick, and a battery session also ends at a serious thermal state. A separate watchdog restores the normal sleep setting if the app's background service stops or hangs.

For coding agents there is `keepmacawake start --hours 8 --json`, `keepmacawake status --json` and `keepmacawake stop --json`, one JSON object per call. The guides on [keeping Claude Code running with the lid closed](/blog/keep-claude-code-running-lid-closed) and [keeping a MacBook from sleeping with the lid closed](/blog/prevent-macbook-sleep-lid-closed) explain the details.

It does not keep Wi-Fi or other network connections alive, and it does not wake a Mac that is already asleep. A closed Mac still makes heat: keep it ventilated, on a hard surface, never in a bag.
