# Keep Mac Awake terms of use

Version 1.0, draft of 2026-10-19 for the owner's approval. This draft is not legal advice; have it reviewed before relying on it.

1. **What the software does.** Keep Mac Awake changes a system-wide macOS power setting so that your Mac does not sleep while a session you started is running, also with the lid closed. You decide when a session starts and how long it lasts.

2. **Your responsibility.** A Mac that does not sleep uses more power and produces heat. Keep it ventilated, do not run it in a closed bag or on a soft surface, and watch the battery when you allow battery use. You are responsible for where and how you use your Mac while a session runs.

3. **No warranty.** The software is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted operation. It may stop keeping your Mac awake, for example after a system update, a power or thermal event, or a failure, and work running on the Mac may be interrupted.

4. **Limitation of liability.** To the extent permitted by law, the author is not liable for any damage or loss arising from the use of the software, including damage to hardware, overheating, battery wear, lost data or interrupted work.

5. **Trial and price.** You can use Keep Mac Awake for 3 days from your first session without paying; during the trial a session lasts at most 8 hours. After that, using it needs a purchase: 9 USD plus applicable tax, a one-time payment for one Mac, with no subscription. Stripe sells it as the reseller (merchant of record) and handles payment, tax, receipts and refunds under its own terms. A purchase is for the Mac it was made on; to move it to another Mac, for example after a repair, write to hi@keepmacawake.com. If Keep Mac Awake does not work for you, write to the same address within 30 days of the purchase for a refund.

6. **Data.** The software collects no data. It connects to the network only when you choose Restore purchase, and sends nothing but an identifier of this Mac. See the [privacy description](https://keepmacawake.com/privacy).

7. **Source code.** The source code of the system services is available under the PolyForm Shield 1.0.0 license, which governs the use of that code. These terms govern the use of the distributed app.

8. **Removal.** You can remove the software at any time with the uninstall package from the same release.
